His hands shook as he tried to take control of the situation and his emotions once again. "You know damned well who I like to feed from. I feed from the sick and poisoned in an effort to make a cure for their illness, to rid the world on the scum that they had become. You were also well aware that I do not wish my prey to fear what will become of them when I take their blood." He stared down at her, making sure that she heard every word that he said. "You know me as a monster who must survive off the blood of his prey." Damien's tone was becoming dangerously control once more as he watched her temper flare. "You knew what you were signing up for when you and I started down this dangerous path. Would you prefer my prey to fear the inevitable rather than welcome the darkness that would overwhelm them?"
He lowered his head, planning to get the upper hand on her and take her off guard. His lips pressed down to her ear and with the seductiveness that his kind was blessed with, he began to whisper to her. "Or would you rather me feed from you for all eternity? To take what had been so rightfully mine that you gave to another?" Damien had a way of manipulation but he was well aware that Azrae was just as good at this game as he was. Adrenaline pours quickly into the bloodstream when tempers flare but when the anger vanishes something else is left in its wake. He would not be using her tonight, if ever again and it would be cruel of him to seduce her only to leave her breathless and wanting what he was not going to give. Although, Damien was not in control, no matter how much he tried, the darkest part of him wanted to cause her emptiness that could never be fulfilled by anyone.
That was when he caught the scents; Vaughan and Romal. She was spreading herself thin but there was more too it than that. He took a step back from her and recognized that what she wanted, he could not give her. He could only give her pain where Romal had provided her safety and protection. Vaughan offered her a momentary escape from this punishment but it would do nothing. In a flash his mood shifted as he twisted his arm out of her grasp. "I will reset your wrist and then you can return to where you are safe which is not here with me."

If he was feeding from the sick in order to find a cure for the illness this was news to her, when she had been around prior to leaving the first time; he had fed off the healthy, which only served as a reminder that she had left him. Azrae still met his eyes, each point being driven home painfully so because when Damien was angry there was no mercy, no softness, only cruel words and paper cut outs. "No." Her response to his question about preferring his victims die with fear and surrounded by darkness was quiet, her temper subdued for the moment.
Instinct was driving her to back away when he lowered his head, something going off in her head that said this was dangerous territory and she wasn't prepared to come out of it unscathed. Instead and acting much like prey she went completely still, the touch of his lips against her ear made her breath hitch at the promise in his voice. Why did she think that he wouldn't deliver even if she said yes? "Damien..." Her voice was part warning and part desire because no matter what she did she couldn't mind over matter when it came to Damien and he was so annoyingly good at this game. Yet she knew the fallout that would follow, the way he would pull away from her and deny her everything all over again; because that's just the kind of predator he was.
The entire world began to tremble, or maybe she had just begun shaking from head to toe when he pulled away from her. The world and his mood had shifted and as he snatched his hand away she felt the blow, he was pushing her away. Telling her to return where she was safe, which wasn't with him. Confusion rang clear in her eyes and her hand dropped to her side, she was finding it difficult to breathe again. Stubbornly she looked up at him, setting her jaw and straightening up some, as if she still had any dignity left after everything. "No."
Turning away from him Azrae moved to the closet and shed her jacket, tossing it onto the bed and rifling through her old clothes; he was not going to drive her away. Determined, she pulled out a pair of jeans and a clean shirt, then moved to the dresser and searched through her undergarments for fresh pairs. From beneath her shirt she pulled out their wedding rings, both his and hers; dangling from a long silver chain and set them on the dresser beside the bed with the Lapis Philosophorum right beside it. Her back was to him now, her arm still motionless beside her thanks to the broken bones. Not that he had meant to do it. "I'm not leaving, if you want to get away from me then you're going to have to be the one to go. This time, you're going to have to be the one to run away Damien, not me. I'm done running."
(Az is stubborn. Or stupid.)

Damien had gotten the reaction he had wanted out of her. She had been swept away in his seduction only to be brought back to the now with a vicious realization that he would not be following through with what his tone had spoken. Eyes began to watch her every move, from the shaking of her body to the sudden change in her demeanor. The one thing Damien could admire about Azrae is her determination; however, he feared that this time her determination to stay was not the smartest thing she could have done. He stood, practically dumb founded at what she was doing. "You already left me and I'm not going to stand here to try and take back what is clearly not mine."
He shook his head and stepped forward. "Remember Azrae, you left me. You took our son away from me and you did not return. When I left you sought out companionship in the arms of another. You have found what you have been looking for in the home of another. This place, this room that you are now standing in has nothing left but items of the past. You have wanted to run away since I stepped foot in this room. No one will blame you for leaving, if anything use your brain and go. Stop being stubborn. Stop trying to act as though everything is going to be okay. It wont and I will not lie to you and make you feel as though that things will be better. I do not know if I can ever look at you the same way I did back then. No one should bear that burden or that blame." Damien watched her from his spot now. "You would not be running away. You would be making the best decision you can make for yourself."

As if he hadn't already made it clear that nothing would be the same it appeared her took sick pleasure in reminding her of her mistakes over and over again. And still, she didn't move from her spot looking at her items before moving to unbutton her pants. This was her room and even if he said what he did she was not going to leave. She shimmied out of them, simply stripped without looking back at him and pulled the fresh clothing back on again. In that moment while her back was turned to him the fine lines of aging and the torture that Hades had put her through was marked on her skin. Burns and mottled flesh already healed and scarred over. The marks of something dug into flesh and ripped out like a whip or cat 'o' nine tails, where flesh had scabbed and eventually filled out, misshaped. "Well it's a good thing I'm a shit decision maker or I'd be walking out that door right now."
She pulled the shirt down and flipped her hair out, picking up both necklaces and sliding them around her neck before picking up the clothing and moving past him, into the bathroom to throw her dirty clothes into the hamper. She had nothing to say to his accusations of what she had done, they were correct; but this time he wasn't going to drive her away. Mal had driven her away, Vaughan had never actually wanted her for more than to forget and that was fine with her, so then let Damien drive the final blow. She stood in the doorway between the bedroom and the bathroom, calm as could be; all of the hurt hidden deep within her; watching him. "Then look at me for what I am. Even if I disgust you, but this is the path I'm choosing and I'm not going to blame you later on for hating me. How much worse can it get? It's what you want right? You want to see me bear this agony, this emptiness with the knowledge that only you can fill it, but you won't. So stupid or not, we both get what we want."

Damien looked towards the sky as though some higher power was going to give him the strength to deal with this. The vampire did not believe in such things but it did not hurt to try, he thought to himself. He turned his attention away from the ceiling and to the hearth of the fire place as she began to remove her clothes. He had no longer felt the need to watch her every move, looking upon her only caused him regret and guilt of not having been here. Although there was nothing he could do to take back what had been done and the same with her. "The shit decision is to stay here." He said quietly as he rested one hand on the mantle, lowering his head to look down at the ash that had collected when the logs within had been lit some time ago. "I will save you the pain of having to walk away and do it for you. I will remove my belongings from this room, it is now yours. I will send a cleaner in to get rid of any trace of me that is here so that you do not have to be around it. I would not want to cause you any further pain that has been caused so far. You may keep the room, I will find another room in another part of the Estate. If this does not appease you than I can remove your clothing for you and you may move to another part of the estate. That is entirely up to you."
The man stood and turned around to face her. He would not be able to stand looking at her the same after what he had heard. She had the right to sleep with Vaughan in the hope of forgetting him, but even knowing that she had done it for herself and not in spite of him did not dull the pain but made it worse. "I can not fill your emptiness nor will I try at this time." Whether or not he would be able to in the future he had not decided yet, what he had decided is that he could not be in her presence currently. This talk had enlightened him to more than what he had expected and it had broken a piece of him. Shredded, stepped on, kicked, burned, and completely demolished actually although he was not letting it show fully. There was no masking all of the hurt that had come from her telling the truth.

"There's no need for you to take such drastic measures Damien." Azrae felt the pain but as he would not show it himself then she wouldn't either, the only thing that had changed was that she was done being judged and she was done putting herself last. She wasn't going to go looking for happiness or the comfort of security or even the false hope that she could forget; she was going to rebuild herself. "I came here to tell you what I wanted to tell you, to ask you for your help and to tell you my choice. This room, it was yours originally, I will be taking my own room." Whatever discarded pieces, fallout or pain there was they would need to deal with it separately, she had pushed as far as she could with Damien and he had given about as much as she expected; an inch and no more.
Azrae opened the closet and took the hamper from the bathroom, then dumped all of her clothes and belongings in there; emptying everything methodically. She knew that getting into his good graces had been impossible but it was worth the shot, she just wasn't sure it was worth ruining what little was left of their hearts. Only time would tell what his choice would be, and whether or not he would be able to look at her again. This was the most damaging decision she had made in her entire life, and the weight of her body began to feel lighter now that she had come clean. "There's a few more things... please right my wrist and help me find a room, this way you will know where I am should you ever need anything, and secondly, I'm going to destroy Plague if its the last thing I do and find out if he really did lie to me about Micah."
She didn't say the rest because there would be no point if it proved false, but if Plague really did have Micah she would make sure that she got their son back and that Damien would never be alone again. She owed him that much.
