The coven hadn't seemed to have changed all that much since Vaughan had last set foot in the place, the same stoney echo that reverberated from the walls as his talon clawed fingers lay entwined in the auburn hair of a woman, scantily clad in a miniskirt and halter top. She had been bitten, the telltale signs of marks and the dribble of blood over her collarbone which consequently dripped along behind as Vaughan dragged her kicking and screaming towards the dining hall. His lips had caught the same crimson stain as he sauntered along, quite authoritatively hauling the woman about like a rag doll. "oh for fuck sakes you silly girl stop it, your doing my head in" Vaughan snarled as he headed up a stair case and slowed as he approached the doors to the dining room. The woman fought with beady eyes, wide and terrified as her nails scraped and dug at Vaughan's skin, a pain not at all bothering him as he nonchalantly kicked the doors open with his feet, using his hands to tighten his grip around the woman's neck before pushing her into the room and releasing after he had heard the doors close.
"Ajax! where are you? Vaughan shouted, chuckling when the screaming woman tried to dart for the door. She was quick but no where near quick enough as Vaughan tripped her over, watching her fall sprawling out on the ground. he tutted and waggled a finger at her

He walked his fingers around the door frame entering from the opposing side of the dining room in time to see the woman make a dash for it and Vaughan stop her in a pretty traumatic way for the woman, his metallic eyes moved to follow his fingers letting Vaughan finish what ever it was he was doing. Ajax may have looked calm but the tell tail vein pulsed beside his jaw line. Vaughan was out of order in every way, Ajax wondered if he knew as much. No one shouted for him in such a way they had more respect for him then that, not only that Vaughan had obviously hunted in the city which was something Sauri had stated she didn't like and didn't want done when associated with them.
"Vaughan" his eyes moved to the male his face holding a passive expression for the moment. "You must have a brilliant reason for calling me in such a way?" He cocked his head looking at the male, he and his brothers had caused nothing but problems for him yet he had always tolerated them he expected a little more respect.
He began to move into the room and towards the main table to lay his hands upon it as he reached it and stopped. "I hope that woman is from outside the city limits.." he knew she was from Lacrimosa he wished to state a point and remind Vaughan.
"What can I do for you?"

"A gift for you surely" Vaughan replied in reference to the woman as he glanced at her and then back to Ajax. Once upon a time he would have called before arriving, taking all matters of respect when even considering speaking to the Matashina's. Though these days with little care for anything at all anymore he couldn't have given a rat's ass as he pulled a chair away from the table and took a seat.
"Ajax" he repeated when Ajax addressed him though Vaughan had a smile upon his face.
"oh relax, I wondered if you had cast an eye over the newest additions to Lacrimosa? seems to me your in need of some defense building from the gossips in town"

He looked at the girl she was not the sort of 'gift' he would accept, he didn't see anything desirable about her even her scent was off putting though the stench of her fear was delightful he ignored it his attention going back to Vaughan who looked to have changed since the last time he had seen him but then again hadn't they all?
He pulled his chair out and sat down upon it, he wasn't there for a power game he wanted to see just what Vaughan wanted, he waited and soon enough Vaughan got down to the grit of it, that was something Ajax appreciated as he hated small talk probably just as much as the man he now sat across from.
He placed both palms upon the table which was his habit he liked to have his hands free to move them at speed if he needed to but it also tended to put others at ease as they could see what he was doing.
"I have heard that the humans are building something. Stories but have not seen it for myself yet. You being here confirms it though and that is never a good thing. As for defence I have none at present but I will"

The way Ajax Matashina moved, spoke and presented himself always gave off a natural ooze of respectful authority though in some ways Vaughan found him humorous. Not so because of the authority but of the blandness that Ajax had managed to direct a coven of vampires. There was rarely a time where he was seen by Vaughan to genuinely loose his shit and he wondered quietly for a moment if Ajax ever felt out of control.
This was no time however for pondering upon the lives of another, there was immediate indication that Ajax had not moved on the words spoken through idle gossip. Vaughan leant forward slightly as his blackened eyes scanned Ajax's features.
"You seem far too relaxed on this issue Ajax, i thought of all people you would be well ahead of my own observation and have had at least a scout out or two" he critiqued him. "Word has arisen around Lacrimosa that units of troops have been seen arriving and given your...choice to raise mortals as stock in Lacrimosa I'd be betting there are a few of those meatbags ready to suit up against you. Tell me Ajax, are you still willing to keep mortals safe in Lacrimosa while this group spread like a disease in your own home?" Vaughan enquired.

Vaughan questioned him and Ajax crossed his fingers tightly before placing his hands upon the table in a rather measured way, he didn't know whether Vaughan was just being irritating or whether he was intentionally trying to get under Ajax's skin. Ajax wasn't in the mood to play the game so me held back any emotional response from the veiled accusations.
"I have only just received word. And I intend to look for myself this eve" he didn't explain himself. He wanted to see it with his own eyes and he did not wish to place members of his covens in danger when it was possibly such an enemy, scout or not.
"The mortal population of Lacrimosa are not feeding stock for the likes of you. This brings attention. Probably what causes such people to be upon us now" he couldn't understand why he was being questioned yet again. "Ones such as your brother who kill in my lands probably made us into targets. Do not forget this is my territory when you question me. You are all permitted here out of kindness by Sauri" if it were up to Ajax Vaughan and his brothers would never have settled upon his lands.
"Is that what you wanted?"

"For the likes of me?" Vaughan laughed with a sense of sarcasm, as though it could possibly hurt his feelings if he had bothered to care. "See this is why your forever walking about playing the sensible leader Ajax, Thankgod you take the boring task and with such honesty, I've always likes your brutal honesty about my family leaving a sour taste in your mouth. Its your territory, thats wonderful but Jax, If you wait too long, this territory will slip into the hands of mortals you have always been so bent on protecting. I'm simply offering some neighbourly assistance" Vaughan spoke, sitting rather relaxed in his chair. The woman he had brought had cowered in a corner, arming herself with a candlestick as though it would save her from further torture. he didn't care about her now, more concerned about the real threat of mortals raising hell against them. "This kind of thing has happened in the past, I'd love to say we are at the top of the food chain but that may be reversed very soon, reports from old friends suggest this particular group has caused damage in other cities so far" he spoke candidly now, the change of seriousness in his voice a through indication that Vaughan was not entirely happy or confident about this threat.

Vaughan took Ajax's comments in his stride the way he had always done and Ajax did the same to his. Their relationship stood on mutual and honest ground no matter the subject.
The tone of the conversation changed again with Vaughan offering up some more information, he had done some homework on the subject it seemed or at least he knew of people that had come across this mortal group. Maybe the threat was as dangerous as Vaughan said and maybe it wasn't but Ajaz didn't intend on turning a blind eye to it.
"Maybe I will go now then" he mused to himself glancing towards the windows. "See for myself just what the threat level is" he sighed shaking his head, this was just what they needed they had hardly collected themselves in the years since the ancients had come, things seemed worse. He hadn't managed to make a safe place for the coven members he had only managed to gather them all for mass execution.

Given your reluctance when it comes to the Dimitru family i can understand if you were to laugh at my next suggestion but two sets of eyes will be better at investigating this issue. Regardless of whether i go with you now, i will be pursuing this threat further. so what say you Ajax? care to take a stroll?" Vaughan asked. he figured if they had taken to the streets to check out the nature of such rumors and something were to occur they would be able to watch each other's backs.

He had not expected that Vaughan would come up with an offer for them to both go together they had always had a bit of a stand off relationship but Ajax saw no reason not to take him up on it. Ajax was no moron but neither was Vaughan he knew they would both probably be safer going together to view such a threat.
"I see no reason not to go together" he stated after his thought about it. "When do you plan on going?"
