Light steps spring from the leafy floor to the fallen branches, the sound of tiny claws scrabling over the occasional falling tree make a skittering sound. Between trees and through flashes in the greenery there could be seen a small form darting as if in persuit of something. A little girl's giggle escapes between panting breaths as she gets closer to what she's after, not paying attention to the state of her maid outfit that now has a few rips here and there along with smudges of dirt. She had long since lost her shoes and socks in the woods somewhere and there were bits of twig and leaf tangled up in her hair. Beside a little clearing, the girl crouches down with her dog ears perked at full attention and facing forward. With an explosion of energy, she springs forward into the clearing while pinning a wirey rabbit to the ground. The small form quivers in fear as the girl smiles and lets out a triumphant bark, her curled tail wagging happily.

He had arrived in the coven a few weeks before and had been sad to find that not often he had come across anyone else. He had heard that it would be a place of refuge and that he had to agree it was but he was also finding it a place of solitude. Being alone from time to time had its advantages but when it was most of the time he had found it rather depressing. These things had lead to today, Tide had enough of sitting around his room or the coven house waiting for someone to show up or for anything to happen and he had decided to venture out into the foreboding looking woods to see what sort of mischief he could find himself in.
He had been walking for upwards of an hour when he heard the laughing. Craning his neck to the side he listened carefully. It sounded to be the laughter of a small child. Pretty creepy considering they seemed to be alone in the dark woods. Blair Witch Project came to mind.... but he pushed that thought away and began to trail it making sure to be as noisy as possible so not to startle who ever it was.

Day in and day out, it all blurred together into one giant mess of loss of time. The Phalanx kept one guard posted to guard her and her peers, but he was a mean son of a bitch who enjoyed brutalizing his charges if they so much as made a peep. Even moving around in their holding cells would be enough for the guard to give them a good beating, it was an excuse and as long as the mutants performed to the best of their abilities, the brutality was overlooked. The other mutants were huddled in the corners of their cells while Blink played with a small pebble that had found its way into her shoe. Since arriving here Blink had not used her powers once, even before then she had been too afraid to let them loose; had she done so she probably would have escaped along with the others.
Right now she was passing the rock from one small portal between her hands to the other, beads of sweat on her forehead as she exercised a muscle she hadn’t used in a very long time. The muscle flexed and the energy grew, the portal expanded and she accidentally took a bar of her cage with it. Looking quickly over her shoulder to make sure the guard hadn’t seen, Blink held the pink tinged rift and expanded it, swallowing up more of the metal. There was never any telling where the portals might lead, one just had to take a leap of faith and hope that they led to someplace safe and not this agonizing and slow death they were all living.
Turning around to face the guard, Blink flicked her hand out and shot a portal at his feet. Her green eyes were contrastingly bright against her pale flesh, the marks around her brow and lids a deep lavender, noticeable like the diamond mark right between her eyes. A clear cut and dry sign that she was a mutant, an abhorration to the human race, unwanted and unclean in the eyes of man. “Goodbye Harvest.” The portal at the guard’s feet sucked him in, but she manipulated the energy to shred him instead of teleport him. Blood spurted out of the portal and splattered onto her face. Blink gave a slight jump from the warm and wet liquid of life, staring unerringly at the pool of blood that was gurgled down and teleported to some unknown place. The screams would have been heard by the other Phalanx, she would need to hurry.
Removing the rest of the bars with her javelins, she crawled out of the cage and climbed onto her feet, swaying on them from finally being able to stand up straight; back protesting as her spine finally managed to stretch out and she sighed against the dull ache. The other mutants were holding onto their bars, staring at Blink. She pressed a hand to her lips and ran along the center, flicking her wrists and sending javelins to embed the cells; breaking her fellow comrades out. At the end, she stopped and shot both hands out in front of her. A large pink-tinged rift opened up, swirling in and around itself; expanding to accommodate for many of the escapees to cross through at the same time. “Let’s go, quickly!” Without hesitance the other prisoners ran into the rift, Blink’s eyes and ears peeled for any sign of the covenant coming to investigate.
She turned in order to jump into the rift and was knocked sideways by a ray of power. The rift snapped shut and she clutched her side, it came away with blood. Slightly disoriented she crawled to her feet unsteadily, one hand cupping her injured side and the other shooting out to create another rift. She heard the whirring of the weapon as it recharged and counted her breaths as she jumped in, ignoring all pains and aches. She was almost on the other side of the portal when the shot hit her between the shoulders and pushed her out the rest of the way. Blink sprawled face first onto hard ground beneath and cracked her head. With blood on her forehead and dripping down her brow towards her eye she sat up, a giggle making her squint into the dark as she stood up. Another loud sound was making its way closer and Blink turned around, the place becoming blurry with the motion of her movement. She had no clue where she was, but picked her way, dizzily towards the chiming laughter, perhaps it had been someone from the prison.

Mannix hadn't been back to this place for a long long time, since the battle that destroyed the coven with the ancients. It wouldn't surprise him if everyone thought he was dead. This thought gave the armed man in black a small smirk on his face, a small chuckle leaving his lips...... until some kind of rift opened up a few hundred meters behind him. Spinning around, his rifle already aiming at whoever this person was that stumbled through. He steadied himself in case he needed to fire, his fire arm had one hell of a kick back.
"I do hope you aren't here to cause problems.... miss, this place needs no more bloodshed" He called out to the woman that had just exited the rift, while one ear was listening to the laughter of... a child? He never remembered any children here before. "Hm, that's new"

With the sounds of clumsy footsteps crashing through the forest, Senmei raised her head with her tall pointed dog ears swiveling around to listen for possible others who may be making their way towards her. The rabbit took the chance to rake its hind paw's claws against the arm pinning it. She yelps and lets it go in favor of a hiding place. She sits on her haunches as she licks her arm at the base of a large oak where the shadow cast would help hide her along with some tall grasses and some wild flowers.
Now on top of hearing the person crashing through the forest, there was the sound of air itself crackling and the voice of a male that didn't sound all too happy. After her licking stopped the scratches on her arm from bleeding further, Senmei peered out from her hiding spot towards all of the racket, watching and waiting to see who all these people are and if they are from the pound trying to catch her again like they did in the city. It wasn't in her nature to hide like this or to stay quiet and still either. She kept fidgeting on her small paw-like feet as her little fingers gripped and relaxed on the grass as they helped her balance in her crouched position. Her eyes were wide as they drew in as much light as they could to see in the darkness, one glinting red and the other a shining green.

Sat well hidden in silence, noting down all that seemed to be happening within the forest, it had been appointed to him to charge with the forest and it's protection from the master and mistress and he planned to keep it that way, he was not about to allow another turn of events like the coven's destruction as he slowly moved without a sound, relocating himself to keep a better view on those who had entered the forest. A very slight tilt of his head to the right, his hearing picking up on the odd child like laughter which was new to him more so since he was not aware of children being in the coven at this time.
Dropping to now stand with arms folded behind the odd child looking female, by the show of ears he defined her to be some sort of canine breeding, he just watched with dark golden yellow colored eyes, his hearing keeping well in tune to the other two within the forest, it had been to long since one had stepped foot within the forest. The massive bow slung over his right shoulder, the Elvin armor defined his body structure to be lean but not to be underestimated in any way.

He hadn't decided on what to do when sounds of others gradually began to pick away at the attention he had on the laughing girl. Firstly the sound of air shifting then a thud off not to far behind him. The sound of a body hitting the earth, well that was interesting and not what he had been expecting. He froze head again tilting though this time to allow him direction of the new sounds, the body was obviously alive as he heard it move but again something else distracted him, a male voice this time. Then the sensation of another though he had no clue where this one was he could only feel the creepy feeling when being close by.
It was getting much to hot, he wouldn't simply walk into this now as planned. Tide had never been shy, he had never been one to use his head massively in such situations but he wasn't dumb enough to go walking into something where he could tell instantly he was out numbered. Stepping backwards until he met with a tree he turned around and scaled it, he was nimble upon his feet so didn't find it difficult to get up the tree with minimal sound. He tried to gain a better vantage point in order to see both groups so he could assess what was happening before choosing to leave or stay in the area.

Hearing the words of someone behind her, she whirled around and nearly stumbled and dropped onto her face. She was still extremely disoriented from her trip but it was easy enough to spot the weapon being pointed at her and she raised a brow at the barrel pointed in her direction. "Is that a warning or a hope that I'm not going to be causing you trouble? I can't cause you trouble unless you bring it to me, but I can't guarantee that there won't be trouble coming after me." Seeing that he too had caught the sound of something or someone, Blink became a little bit antsy with the outcome to this dance. She glanced over her shoulder and then back at the male, she didn't know if she had the energy in her that it took to draw another rift before her and evade the bullet.
"I'm going to go in that direction over there and see who is giggling at this time of day. You can come or you can stay, but if you want to keep me from causing trouble; sir, I suggest you come with me." She hoped that she didn't sound hostile, but she also felt the trickle of blood where something had grazed her side. Her hand closed over it, breathing in deeply and sighing in an effort to breathe out the pain. Carefully she picked her way further in, stopping only every once in a while to wait and see if the male caught up. When they were nearing the sound, it cut off abruptly and Blink frowned, looking around; especially in the darker parts of the forest. "Hello? You can come out." She called out, hoping that whoever the young one was, they would make themselves known.

"Child's laughter.... always strange" He muttered to himself as he lowered his weapon, not trusting the stranger by any means, but his reactions were normally quick enough to deal with any threat in a ruthless if not mercifully quick way. He followed her, his steps silent as the grave as they walked towards the sounds of laughter, remembering when he would sometimes sit in the tree tops of this place, something that made him chuckle.
"I can smell your blood by the way, might want that seen to soon before infection starts to set in" He commented as they walked, keeping behind her by a few steps, it was easier to aim that way, well, for himself anyway.

The hair at the nape of her neck stood on end as her ears continued to swivel around, trying her best to hear anything that might tip her off and alert her to others. The crashing through the forest stopped but there was still movement and now a woman's voice called out to her while a more quieter male voice seemed to be not far behind. Curious to know who it was that had followed her, she rises to her full height of four feet and three inches and slowly pads into the clearing on her bare and dirty feet. The bones in her feet spread every time she took a step so that it actually cushioned the impact making her move more silently and instead of breaking or crushing the plants, they simply sprung back up in her wake with barely a bent stalk or much of a foot print.
"H-hello? Who's there?" Her voice may not have been strained but it most certainly carried which was usually a surprise to those who have first met her. Her voice was clear and seemed a bit too mature for her rounded and soft-looking face. It was a voice of her being serious and no longer being her usual playful self. 'If it's those pesky dog nappers again, I'll give them a fight they will never forget!' Senmei thought to her self silently. She may have gotten too curious for her own good and became lost once again but she would never let herself get caught by anyone but Roye. She would never do anything on purpose that would keep them apart for good and this instance was no different. The young Inu may be small but she was full to the brim with energy and she was a natural hunter. If push came to shove, she will make her stand and protect her bond with her only friend and family in Roye, the man that all the other dull humans could never remember. Her heart always felt like it swelled in her chest every time thoughts of him came to mind. For him she would do anything to be with.

Just watched what came to pass, saying nothing as usual and now moved to lean against the tree. "One should always be well aware of their surrounds they say" His tone seemed to echo around the forest, his home and under his guard as he adjusted the bow ever so slightly before allowing both hands to drop back to his sides and awaited to see how the situation would play out, he was never usually one for interacting with most but he had not been around many in so long, not since the fall out of the coven, he remembered that day all to well and would die before allowing that to come to pass once more.
