"Aunt Riika lives in the middle of bumble-fuck nowhere. We'll be walking along unmarked dirt roads for at least ten minutes before reaching her house." she said, looking over her shoulder at Erebus. They had arrived at her family's estate and spent the entirety of one day in lavish uptown furnishings and dining. She didn't like to make it known that she was a rich girl, so it might have taken Erebus by surprise. The weather, though not as cold as it could get was still cold enough to freeze your water if left out over night, and the snow hadn't completely melted, making the path muddy. She'd been amused, watching Erebus trek through it all but she too wanted to get somewhere with hard floors.
There were no signs of any kind, just trees and more trees, then a brief clearing leading up to more trees. Following the foliage that had come back to fill in the winter spaces, she had guessed they had taken too many turns now, and wondered if Erebus' sense of direction had been shot yet. "There it is!" Her face formed into a wide grin as they approached a small white farmhouse. There were early shoots of a flower garden cropping around the front porch, a walkway of flagstones leading from the driveway to the front steps.
Consequently, Xio had left a note for Kenshu and made Cerverous aware of their journey; leaving the detailed map that Erebus had bought in town for them to follow should they wish to join. The thought of Cerverous and Kenshu travelling together made her grin. They had to be complete opposites but the two were a few of her favorite people in the coven. Not that she'd say that to either of them, because for one, Cerverous would more than likely pout like a child. Whereas Kenshu would be completely indifferent to it all.

"How lovely" he replied shifting his backpack across his back into a more comfortable position, his back had never fully recovered but he was never going to moan about it, or let it be known. "Bumble fuck no where is in my top ten places to visit in my bucket list" He had been glad for the day spend inside in her family home it had given him a chance to recover from the cold which had already started to eat into the flesh of his feet and ankles where the snow had been in closer contact.
As they moved off he took a couple of seconds to make sure that all the thermal clothing he had on was properly tied down in the places he needed it to be. Frowning he looked across the terrain the place had to offer him. He had come to his own personal hell. And by choice. He followed her mainly in silence his body tensed up as a rock from the cold he wasn't in the mood for chit chat. Nodding he looked up when she pointed out the house a slight relief coursing through him to see it closer then he had expected.

“Late late late late late late late late laaaaaate” a voice sung out from far back down the snow trail. No idea how she had actually found them to catch up Kenshu ran her feet a little unsteady on the mushy floor beneath thin soul shoes. She had not really dressed for the occasion. A pair of black skinny jeans and a strapless purple top clung tightly to her form as she followed the footsteps through the frozen trail.
“Cerverous is later yes yes yes we know” she replied to the ones who followed her, always following her. “Late for the date. Its rude really” she sniggered to herself soon seeing the unmistakable forms of her friend Xiomara and the bulky figure of the long time friend of her family Erebus. “Ohoy you stop. You art not permitted into the land of the snow goblins. Not without me!” she screeched at them.

the lowest branch on one of the last tree shook ever so slightely, just enough to drop a small bit of the snow on it, and a man with neck length black hair, dressed in black jeans, boots and simple T hung upside-down from it. his arms and the black trench coat draped below him as Cerverous looked deep red eyes curiously at the farmhouse. "indeed" was his usual one word reaction. the accessories of his attire ranged from studs and a spike in the boots, a red and a white chain attached to the jeans, two red belts around his left leg and the always present tape from his right hand to the shoulder, plus various other things.

***Teal parts will belong to Aunt Riika
Stopping she looks over her shoulder at Kenshu and chuckles, she'd promised her friend a vacation and this was anything but. Although as soon as this little mission was over she planned on giving Kenshu the tour of the area. Looking at Erebus she grinned, knowing she had put him in danger for bringing him to where the snow was, but at least he was standing on mud now. "Wait for Kenshu, I'll go on ahead and let Aunt Riika know she has company.
Trees had been carefully planted around the yard, shielding it from the eyes of the road but opening up in front to sort of hug the house. Xio bound up the steps like an eager hound, she knocked on the door, her heart holds its breath, not only because she wants her answers, but because getting them gives a one way ticket to hell. Rikka answers on the third knock. "Xiomara Adrasteia Duliese! You've doubled in size!" She comes onto the porch and hugs her. "What on earth are you doing here?" Riika askas. She's a lot shorter than expected, barely over five feet. Her hair a loose and dark blond, shot through with white. Lines crack through the soft skin of her cheeks and pinch in the corners of her eyes. The cable-knit sweater she wears looks about three sizes too big and there's support hose bunched around her shoes. Riika is no spring chicken. But when she claps Xio on the back, she still jolts forward from the force of it.
"Aunt Riika, these are my friends. Kenshu, Cerverous and Erebus. We're here to talk to you about the Obeahman...." Riika clucks her tongue, and as her cheeks pull in, everyone can get their first glimpse of the witch she must be underneath the layers of floral print knit. When her eyes dark to Xio's leg, where the athame rests in its sheath, she has to fight the urge to back off the porch. "I should have smelled it," she says softly. Her voice is like the pages of a very old book. She squints at the faces of the others then back at Xio's leg. "The power coming off of thisone." Her hand snakes into Xio's and she pats it firmly. "Come inside."

Doing as was asked he slowed down until he stopped, turning he waited for Kenshu to catch up. Grabbing her he messed about with her hair when she arrived next to him. He hadn't seen her for a while and she looked a little different. "Hey socks" he grinned letting go he nodded hearing and then seeing Cerverous.
When they were all together he took a few steps back towards where Xiomara had gone. Just in time to make a small wave in greeting as he and the rest of them were introduced to Riika" hey" He glanced at the others as the invite was made to come inside, letting them go in before him out of politeness.

Flailing her arms she smoved Erebus away from her, instinct making her do it more then actual fear, she had known him a really long time but for the minute touch wasn't something that was good for her. Darting through the doors, she would probably seem rude not to say hello to the old woman but she wanted to get to Xiomara. Going to her side she stood right beside her quiet and watchful.

Cerverous continued to hang from his branch swinging back and forth slightly as everything else continued on, he had claim to it and would continue to use it until such a moment that he felt he should stop. with a nod back to Erebus and then a wave of his left hand as his name came up, his next change was a teleportation to the ground, hardly three feet from the spot. the movement created a very thin black mist that moved and swayed for the mere split second then absorbed back into his body as he settled. he walked the rest of the way into the house after the invitation was made. "the weather is just beautiful here!" the words came as he reached the porch and spun around as he stepped around to show Erebus his bright grin and then again to enter the front door.

Smiling she takes Kenshu's hand and leads her to a seat on the couch. The interior of the farmhouse smells like blended incense and old lady. Brown shag carpet stretches as far as the eye can see, beneath cluttered furniture: a rocking chair and a long couch, bot in green velour. A glass hurrican light fixture hangs over a yellow Formica table in the dining area. The table itself is a mess of half-burnt candles and incense sticks. After they sit, aunti Riika squirts some lotion onto her hands and rubs them together briskly. Aunt Riika's hair is a mass of butterscotch and mashmallows.
"This is not easy for any of you," Riika says to them severely, which doesn't help. She reaches for a tin with cardinals painted on it and pries it open, offering the gingersnaps inside to everyone in the room, Xiomara grabs a handful. A wide smile spreads on her face as Riika watches Xiomara take some before looking around impatiently. "I will help you, if I can." She leans forward and lights three of the candles, seemingly at random. "Ask your questions."
Xiomara takes a deep breath, not knowing where to start. Riika slaps her hand. Apparently she took too long."Give," she says, and Xiomara turns it palm up. Riika's grip is gentle, but there's steel beneath her fingers as she squeezes her bones together and closes her eyes. Xiomara looks around at the others, feeling uncomfortable with all this touching. Something about Riika, maybe the power emanating off her, is almost making her sick to her stomach. Just when Xiomara is ready to pull free, Riika opens her eyes and lets go with a brisk pat on the back of her hand.
"So you are the wielder of a weapon older than all of us." There's a pointed way that she isn't looking at Xiomara and her hands are curled like crabs. They skitter across the Formica, fingers tapping the table-top. "You want to know about the athame and how to open the door," she says into her lap. With her chin tucked low her voice takes on a choked, froggy quality. Riika shrugs to say it doesn't matter. There's a velvet bag resting on a gold plate; she empties out the contents and stirs them around. Xiomara doesn't even try to pretend they're carved runes, she knows they're actually small bones, maybe from a bird, or a lizard, maybe from human fingers. Riika looks down into the pattern and raises her pale eyebrows. "You are going after the Obeahman? You are missing one more in order to cross that threshold. Only two of you can go, and two of you must stay and be the anchors."

"You're a funny bastard you know that" he grinned just a little knocking against his shoulder as they arranged themselves around the room. Putting his hands into his pockets as he took it all in he got the feeling that they were four mice walking into a lion's den. He made sure he would not touch anything, not unless told to, he knew nothing of these kinds of magic. Hunkering himself inside of his coat he listened to what the old woman was saying after having taken one of the gingersnaps she was offering, more to be polite then anything else.

Taking Xiomara's hand in return she didn't react to her in the same way she didn't get effected by her gloved hands Xiomara always very careful. Following the way she led her electric blue orbs watched everything the old woman was doing, careful of her every move she knew many things, Kenshu didn't want to give herself and her powers away in case the woman were not as much a friend as Xiomara thought. Making it to the couch she sat down drawing her knees up she shook her head at the offer of sweets.
She was staying quiet, all the way until the old woman said something about only two of them going, this she didn't like. "Wait. Anchors? We cannot just get something inanimate to be an anchor for all of us?"

he was looking inquisitively around the room as he answered quite casually in fact "i take pride i it..." the statement almost falling off. he could feel the reactions the others were having. his were different. it seemed almost cluttered to him, as if hed break the very last memory of a lost civilization if he moved to hard in any direction.
this feeling was, unsurprisingly dismissed with a shrug ad he the moved over to a empty space i the seats ad fell into it, leaned his head over the back and grabbed a candy without looking up.
through his 'i gives o fucks' appearance that he constantly held he listened quite intently as Riita spoke, moving little more than to cut his eyes at Xio when she looks around at them "hm"

Xiomara's brow furrows, she inhales fast and cuts her eyes to Kenshu who seems bewildered by this revelation. Then her eyes cut over to Cerverous knowing that the only reason he came along was to kill the Obeahman himself. But then again Erebus and Kenshu had come for the same reason, only she didn't know how many of them could keep her soul safe and sound down in the depths of hell. Or wherever Mackie had gone to. "Aunt Riika, my friends came here to go with me. Is what Kenshu asks impossible?"
"Only two can go, you need living anchors with souls on this side of the door for them to pull you back. Inanimate objects don't have wills of their own, they have no desire for anything. It will not work." Riika leans back in her chair. She motions tensely with her hand, toward Xiomara's boot and the athame. "Show me," she says, and crosses her arms over her chest. Xiomara reaches down and pulls the knife out still in its sheath. Then she lays it on the table in front of her. Riika jerks her head, and Xiomara takes it out. The flames of the candles flicker along the blade. Riika's reaction as her eyes move over it is odd, just an uneasy tic of emotion in the corner of her wrinkled mouth, something that looks like revulsion. Finally, she looks away and spits onto the floor. "What do you know about this?" she asks all that are present.
"I know that it was my fahter's before it was mine. I know that it sends ghosts who kill to the other side, where they can't hurt the living." Xiomara offers. Riika shoots her a raised brow. It looks a lot like that old-lady version of the "get a load of this chick" expression.

Not really fully understanding what Riika and Xiomara were talking about Erebus sighed seeing the reaction Kenshu had made to what was said he figured it was pretty bad. All of this was above his head he was here thats all that mattered from there he would just do as he was told in order to help Xiomara out and get rid of thic Mackie. "Who would need to be the anchors? Who would go with her?" He glanced at all of them just now wanting to get the whole thing over and done with and get the hell out of dodge.

Folding her arms about herself and drawing her knees up as far as she could without making all of the bones in her body crack out of place Kenshu nodded hating the idea totally. They all had their own strengths each of them would work well together, a part their strength had gaps in which ones such as Mackie could slip between. Falling silent now she listened to all that was left to say before they would get on with it.
