Great wings bet over the mountains as night approached. They belonged to a large eagle that scanned the terrain below. Spotting a clearing. it dived towards the ground below at speed. Feet from the ground, the bird placed its talons ahead of itself as if it were about to grab a rodent from the ground. Instead it changed.
A giggle escaped the young girls lips as she landed on the ground. She brushed her hair behind her ear and looked smiled cheekily as she began to walk around the area. She felt quite at home here in the mountains and she appreciated the beauty nature had to offer at this time of the evening. Moving away from the initial landing spot she wandered what new mischief she could get up to in these new lands.

Having been in the caves for most of the day Ajax had been clearing up what mess the weather had made in Eve's first home. She had been living with him and had not been visiting leaving it to the elements. He had wanted to do something nice for her so had given it a tidy up and added a few more fur rugs that he knew she would love once she decided to visit again. Upon leaving he had noticed the large bird of prey but the scent was what fully caught his attention, it was no bird. Tilting his head he watched and waited in total stillness and silence to see what would come of it.

She had explored the mountains till she got bored and then decided to explore the ground below. Skipping down the steep embankments of the mountain, she hummed a sweet melody to herself. Her arms swung by her side with glee as she neared the bottom and her now muddy sneakers touched the ground below.
She instantly spotted the caves that were buried into the mountain and the male standing outside them. She stopped humming her tune and smirked at him. Placing her hands behind her back, she swung back and forth on her heels. " Nice cave you have there. " she said in a cheeky almost mocking tone.

He watched the woman decend the moutian side with eyes of indifference, a lot had happened within this coven recently and as always he would welcome those who looked for him to provide them with a refuge and he would protect them he would not act kindly upon those who tresspassed especially those who spoke to him with arrogant ignorance to the landscape and who owned it. Unlucky for her he did.
"Yes it is a very nice cave and you better think of a good reason for you being here and pretty quickly. This range is private land. Owned by me"

She continued to smirk at him not seeming to be worried about his threatening demeanor. She looked at the landscape around her and shook her head. It was her belief that no one could truly own the land and the earth but it was natural for animals to claim territory, that she understood.
" You own the mountain? I never met anybody who owned a mountain before. I was under the impression that mountains belonged to all creatures big and small. " she over exaggerated a bow " I do beg your forgiveness. I much admit I am new to the area, in fact I just flew in but I suspect you already know that. " her tone was more serious then before but she kept her cheeky tone.

"I own all of this land, I own the city, even though the government act as though it is theirs" he replied his tone flat holding within it not one drop of emotion. As far as first impressions were going this woman was not winning him over in the slightest. The vines beneath his clothing curled with the tension they felt within him in his efforts to remain neutral and not simply snap the woman in half for being so mocking. "Not a lot will get by me. Lets get down to it" he snapped fed up of trying to make any form of small talk the smirk upon her face something he was restraining not to physically remove from her. "Who are you?"

She giggled a little as she realized she had gotten under his skin. " I'm Sam. Pleased to make your acquaintance. " It was clear to her that he seemed to control the area and probably saw her as a threat but it was all fun and games to her. " What can I call you? " she asked running her fingers through her black hair. She hadn't moved from the spot in which she had first addressed him. Pushing his buttons had been to easy thus far.

"Well Sam what are you doing here? A flying visit?" he didn't lack his own humor even though his face for now didn't show the slightest hint that he had just cracked a poor joke. Glancing away to make sure that no others had followed her his metallic eyes moved lazily back to her his pace skin starting to catch against the setting sun making him seem to glow with a slightly orange light. "My name is Ajax Matashina. If you are to be staying around here you would do well to remember the family name" He no longer held interest in her, she seemed not to be running from anything in fear therefore he didn't feel she needed a refuge, he also no longer saw her as a threat but more as a child the giggle not doing much to sway his decision, with those thoughts in mind he began to walk away not willing to waste his time amusing a child.

She genuinely smiled at his joke, as poor as it was. He wasn't completely uptight. She nodded as he introduced himself. She hadn't decided how long she would stay in the area for, probably till she got bored like she had before. But it seemed he wanted to cut her fun short. She frowned slightly as he walked away seemingly thinking that he could just turn her back on her so rudely.
Where once a young looking girl stood a black rabbit now appeared. Standing on its hind legs it looked ahead sniffing the air before it began to move at speed towards Ajax. It passed Ajax and continued on in front for a few feet before it came to a dead stop. The rabbit turned then to face Ajax and then the rabbit seemed to easily shift back to the human form. Her cheeky demeanor had seemed to disappear though. " There's no need to be rude. " she stated her tone now more serious then before.

Taking a leisurely pace as he strode away he doubted that he would get away from the female that easily a doubt that was proved correct when a small rabbit rushed past him, it seemed the girl could change into something other then flighted creatures. Slowing to a stop when she changed herself once again into a human form he looked at her with what could be explained as impatient. "You need to have a thicker skin then that if you are going to stay around here" he responded seeing she had been so easily upset. "What do you want?"

The cheeky smile smile returned to her face once again at hearing his response. " A thick skin you say? Well in that case..... " with a small wink she bent her body over in half and almost instantly a tall black horse with golden eyes stood before Ajax. " Now do you think this skin would be thick enough or should I try something different? I know elephants and rhino's have even thicker skins, I could always try them on for size. " she had truthfully never shifted anything much bigger then a horse but that didn't mean she wouldn't try and see what happened.
She wasn't sure how to answer his question as it was one she had never been asked before. Shifting back to her human form she thought for a moment. She had wanted what most people wanted to fit in but she knew being what she was that the odds were against her. " A riddle. I want a riddle. I love them. Do you know any good ones? " Her masked her thoughts with that cheeky smile and childish attitude as she waited to see what this Ajax would do.

The smirk that he so wished would stay away from her face returned again once he had spoke a slight hiss sounded somewhere from his upper arms the vines and roses curling into his skin at his annoyance, he held a straight face as she changed into the horse. Did she think such things would impress him? They would not he had seen many shape shifters before it was nothing new to him to have one transform infront of him. "Do as you please, I am sure a little toad would suit you fine" Moving to step around her he paused as she seemed to want to speak further causing his clean calm expression to crack with a small irritated sigh that she was keeping him. "Riddle you want a riddle. I don't have one" he replied. "I do not play little games"

The hissing from his arm caught her attention. " Now that is interesting" she thought to herself. She knew she wouldn't be able to push him much further before he lost his patience. The toad comment was evidense of that. " All work and no play makes for a very grumpy vampire " she sang in a melodic tune. " Lucky for you, I have lots of riddles. " she smiled. She thought for a moment before she addressed him again " Imagine you are in a sinking rowboat surrounded by sharks. How would you survive? "

He rolled his eyes at her comment and started walking again sure she would follow him to see what his answer would be to her riddle. "A shark would not bite me. I would swim" he walked slowly not wishing to make it to obvious he was in a rush to get back home he didn't want to let on that anything might be going on. "Are you looking for a place to stay or is this just a fleeting visit Sam?"

She smiled genuinely as she followed him wanting to hear his answer. It wasn't a bad answer, it was one she had heard many times but like most he didn't see the answer that was right in front of him. " or you could just stop imagining " she replied in a soft voice the childish cheek seemed to recede for a moment. " The answers are often a lot simpler then you think " she wondered if he would think about what she had said or if he would just brush if off like others had before him. " As for staying I haven't decided yet. But I am sure you will be the first to know since nothing gets by you "
