The look upon his face made her withdraw more until she couldn't force herself back against the headboard any more without either breaking it or hurting herself. What he said didn't suprise her she thought he knew already and if not it would be obvious.
"Yes"
Her head span as someone entered the room a woman who also seemed to be taking orders. Watching her cross the room she didnt say anything, though the way he spoke to her made a chill run up her back.

he dropped his head onto his left hand just as it reached a raised prop position. "well then. you must be tired" and he stood, speaking as he walked over to the door out "get some sleep, youll need it. the shock of being free might hit you like a rock. ill be back later" and the door was closed leaving her alone.
on the other side, he was speaking to the maid while he handed her a few green bills "give it like fifteen minutes and peek your head in, if she asleep you can leave, if not, be friendly until she falls asleep. then you can leave. if she doesnt feel like going to sleep then youll probably end up earning this tip, cause if she doesnt go to sleep, you cant leave." he turned and began walking to the exit of the pent house. "dont let her leave and get her what she asks for. call me if something serious happens. and have a nice day" "yes Mr. Blackfire" came the response just before the door closed and he was gone entirely, even from the hallway on the other side.

'The shock of being free' his words went round and round in her head, she managed a nod but not much else as he left the room. She could hear him talking to the woman but could not hear what was said and that's when a panic started to set in.
She was probably just like him he was probably telling her to keep her there and never let her leave. Having never come across anyone who didn't want anything from her it was very difficult and confusing to realize that someone just wanted to help her.
She couldn't.
Getting to her feet she tiptoed through the room heading for the balcony he had come in from. Looking up and down she shivered from the wind's bite and from the fact that there was no way he could have come in as quickly as he had done.
Twisting around she looked about for a way to climb out, slowly pulling herself up and onto the ledge she looked down wide eyed.

with her instructions given, the maid moved to a nearby easy chair. she had hardly gotten comfortable before she heard a noise. movement. she stood and made her way to the door of the side room and laid a gentle hand on it, gave a pause then pushed it open. she let out a gasp, the girl would hear it where she stood on the edge of the balcony. that but not the 'Mr. Blackfire' the she mumbled hastily.
Below, in the balcony, Cerverous heard the maids call in his mind and next existing moment was in the room behind her, gave one pause, and walked silently out onto the balcony "planning on jumping?"

The woman gasping followed by a sudden voice nearly made her slip the man could not have got in the room that fast. In a fright she stumbled one foot slipping over the edge. In a little peep like scream she corrected it herself grabbing one of the railings she clung to it for dear life locking her arms around it.
"Well... I was planning on climbing out. But if I couldn't jumping was an option" she replied feeling weaker then before having used a lot of energy just climbing onto the side.

he let the tiniest of smirks onto his face as he walked around to the edge beside her and looked to the street far below, then back to her, then back to the street. "seems to me like jumping was the plan. you wouldn't even make it to the next window." he turned and leaned back against the rail as he spoke to her, content to leave her where she was a little while longer. "so. what're ya gonna do now?"

"Well I could have tried. Probably failed but at least I tried" she replied not looking at him for the shame of having been caught out doing such a thing. Tears threatened her but she held her jaw strongly tight refusing to show him her sorrow.
"I have a choice do I?" she asked looking down her grip looser upon the rail even though for now she still held on.
She would prefer them both dead if they were going to live a life of serving or poverty again.

he gave a genuine smile at her question right before he answered with "you do. though. i cant promise that jumpin would get ya very far at all. and knowing that you'd fail quickly turns trying into a very useless sentiment."
"now" he said, pushing himself of the rail and stepping back inside "i suggest you come down from there, eat something, and then go to sleep so that next time you wanna climb away, you can survive the ordeal" as he finished his statement he was already dropping into the same chair he sat in earlier, and turning to lay his legs across the arm
at the mention of food the maid gave a quick look into his one uncovered eye and needed nothing more then a confirming nod before she quickly left to fetch a meal.

As she listened to him she knew he spoke the truth she would not make the jump. There was no way that she could even if she were healthy she still would be hard pushed to make it across to the other side without falling to her death.
As he moved away from her she started to slowly turn making sure not to slip by accident. He was making sense and now she had some room she started to climb down carefully.
She didn't have much choice other then to try and believe what he was telling her.
She watched the woman she had frightened leave the room and slowly started to walk back over to the bed to sit where she had been sitting before.
"Why are you doing this?"

his eyes were closed now, as if he were trying to sleep, and he answered her without changing that. "because. i found a person that needed help and had only me to give it to them and i am perfectly capable of answering that need to its fullest. not doing so would be pathetic at best"

She frowned going to sit back down on the bed where she had woken up and all of this had begun. Hugging herself she nodded to what he was saying to her, slowly starting to trust what he said to be true. Watching him she couldn't work out whether the man was now asleep or trying to get to sleep so she stayed silent worried that she would anger him by disturbing the rest he seemed to want.

he let the silence drag on for a moment before suddenly rolling over away from her. "stop sitting there and go to sleep"
